The .htaccess file is an ASCII text file that can be inserted in any web-accessible directory on your site, and can be used to customize Apache web server behavior. Ask
your web host if your server is running Apache, and that .htaccess is enabled before you use this tool. If you run into problems (for example, after you upload the
.htaccess file to a directory, you get server error when you call that same directory or nested subdirectory from the browser), delete the .htaccess file or upload a
blank .htaccess file to your server on top of the .htaccess file (you created here and uploaded to your server).
